Pique Collective Presents an Evening of Original Music and Art on the Journeys made by Immigrants in our Community

Pique Collective will perform an original composition by Jeremy Lyons based on text by the African poet, Lucas Chib on Sunday, November 4th 2018 from 6-8pm at 2640 Space located at 2640 Saint Paul St. Baltimore MD 21218.

The event will also include a presentation of authentic cuisine prepared by members of the Mera Kitchen Collective, and a photography series by the Brazilian artist, Camila Franco Ribeiro Gomide. From 6-7pm, audience members will enjoy the culinary contributions of immigrants as they sample food curtesy of the Mera Kitchen Collective – an organization that empowers female immigrants through food entrepreneurship. At this time, audience members can also view a series of photos that are of an immigrant and one item from their home that is important to them. The series, prepared by Camila Franco Ribeiro Gomide, aims to humanize each person and demonstrate how similar all people are.

The musical presentation will begin at 7pm and will feature Pique Collective performing a series of vignettes based on poems by Lucas Chib. These selected poems deal with the realities faced by immigrants and refugees. The event is free and open to the public.
